For those of you waiting for the 'Changeling' digital bass tab/transcription book it is now available on my webstore! You can also still pre-order the physical Bass Transcription Book on the Changeling BigCartel page.
The 999.8MB .zip download includes bass-only transcriptions of the Changeling album 'Changeling' with tablature reflecting the fingerings I used when recording the album. The download includes three folders comprised of:
The Guitar Pro .GP files (for Guitar Pro 7 and newer) synchronised to the album audio
.pdf versions of the Guitar Pro file bass tabs
.pdf versions of the bass parts in Standard Notation only
It took me a lot of additional time to include the Standard Notation version of the album (because Guitar Pro and Sibelius don't play well together...), but I'm hoping it will be valuable for anybody looking for their own way of playing the notes - or for anyone looking for some more unusual bass clef reading material (including in Drop A, A standard and microtonal notes)! As far as I know I'm the only person offering Standard Notation death metal album transcriptions..!
Tracklist:
1. Introject
2. Instant Results
3. Falling in Circles
4. World? What World?
6. Changeling
7. Abyss
9. Abdication
10. Anathema
(Tracks 5 "Metanoia Interlude" and 8 "Cathexis Interlude" have no recorded bass).
Download it now (alongside other album transcription books) through my webstore - and if you would like lessons about playing any of the bass parts or reading music (or anything else!) then you can now book lessons directly through my website on my Lessons Page!
As you can see in the video above, on the 21st May I travelled to Berlin and back to visit the Changeling Dolby Atmos Listening Sessions!

This was a great experience where I, and the other attendees, were able to listen to the album as it was originally conceived - in Spatial Audio. Meaning there is no need to try to fit a full orchestra into a stereo field, as individual elements can now be placed within a 360 degree space. Vocal choirs above you? Done. sounds hitting you from all directions (or only one) as a sonic effect? Done.
Tom (Fountainhead) had to re-track all of the rhythm guitars on the album for the mix because the additional spatial field meant that the standard double tracking wasn't giving the necessary sonic texture!
While I was there I managed to listen to the album and meet attendees in 3 listening sessions, including meeting and hanging out with many of the other talented musicians who helped to bring the album to life - and it was my first time meeting Morean, the vocalist on the album!
It was a really unforgettable experience and I'm glad I went. We were also able to sign some merch while we were all there in one place too! Read more about 'Changeling' on my previous blog post.
For more information about Dolby Atmos and how to listen without the need for 11 speakers(!!) check out the Dolby Atmos website. The Dolby Atmos mix is out now on streaming services that support it, including Tidal, Apple and Amazon music.
Talk soon!
